Colin Babcock

Bio

Colin Babcock is a New York City based trombonist, composer, improvisor, and teacher originally from Pickerington, Ohio. He specializes in Contemporary Classical Music, Chamber Music, and Improvisation. Colin’s compositions include works for brass ensembles, guided improvisation pieces, and electronic music. Colin released “Circle” in 2020 and “Concrete” in 2024, albums of compositions and improvisations for trombone and electronics.

He is one of the Founders of The New York City Brass Choir and Brownstone Brass Quintet. In 2021 Colin began teaching with Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, bringing music education to students all across the city. He graduated from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2020, studying Trombone Performance with M. Dee Stewart, Dr. Denson Paul Pollard, and Peter Ellefson.
