Jean Carla Rodea (born in Mexico City) is a research-based interdisciplinary artist and educator who divides her time between Brooklyn, NY, and San Francisco, CA. Her work spans multiple mediums, including music, sound, poetry, vocal performance, photography, video, movement, and sculpture, addressing socio-political and cultural constructs through multimedia installations and performances. As a musician, Jean Carla has performed and composed across various settings, from solo projects to large ensembles, collaborating with notable artists like William Parker, Darius Jones, Anthony Braxton, and Talibam!. She also leads her own multimedia projects, such as Buscando a Marina/Looking for Marina and Azares. Her work has been showcased at prominent venues such as Roulette Intermedium, Carnegie Hall, and the Knockdown Center, among others.
