Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez

Bio

Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez is a singer/composer based in Brooklyn, New York. With both Jewish and hispanic heritage, Raina comes from rich traditions of storytelling. Though her powerhouse vocals are the first thing to catch the ear, it is Raina’s lyricism and stories that make her an important voice of our time.

Rooted in Jazz, Soul, and songwriting traditions, Raina’s songs combine familiar sonic paletes with lyrical precision. Whether she explores the history of last names in ‘Who Is She’ or wrestles with her own sense of objectification in ‘Better For You’, Raina’s songs ask important questions of herself and her listeners.

In the age of streaming and online stardom, Raina breaks through the noise with her live performances. Her authenticity shines through on every stage. Most recently selling out Joe’s Pub in NYC, Raina has packed rooms at venues such as Nublu, Public Records, Brooklyn Bowl, Homer Center for the Arts, and many others. Touring both nationally and overseas, solo or with 6-piece bands, Raina is a seasoned performer.

As a recording artist, Raina started releasing work in 2018 with a debut album ‘If They’re Mine’ in 2021. Her sophomore album will be released late 2025.

Raina has been an artist in residence at Millay Center for the Arts (2023), Ancram Center for the Arts (2024) and will be a part of the Joe’s Pub Working Group cohort ‘24-’25.
